5 Tips To Improve Your Cooking

Do you love spending time in the kitchen? If you do then I am sure you will agree that anything to do with following a recipe, baking, frying and flipping is really good fun. The best thing about cooking is being able to share your creations with others, like when you bake a batch of deliciously gooey chocolate chip cookies and get to see the look on everyone’s faces as they try to mop up every last fallen crumb. Or the feeling you get after cooking a great dinner, something that everyone loves that really unites the family and has everyone happily digging in and chatting away.

But I wasn’t always quite so confident when it came to cooking. In fact, the mere idea of inviting people over to eat something that I had put together was completely preposterous. Until I stumbled across some tips that really helped me to improve my cooking, tips that are still guiding me down to this day.

Are you in need of a little more kitchen confidence? Then this article has been prepared with you in mind, as I will go on to discuss 5 of the best and simplest tips to help you improve your cooking. Check them out!

Tips to help improve your cooking:

  1. Beautify your meals.

One of the best ways to really wow your guests and help you to improve the final look of your meals is to add a little garnish to them. So whether you are spooning soup into bowls, placing a tray of lasagne into the center of the table or serving up a strawberry cheesecake add a little garnish to really finish off the meal or dessert.

For something liquid like soup you could try croutons or parsley. For something solid try mint or chives. Or if you have a dessert on hand, garnish it with cocoa powder, flaked coconut or even whole nuts.

  1. Don’t forget the olive oil.

You should try adding a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil to your meals to give them a special finishing touch. Extra virgin olive oil has a great taste and should definitely be used on top of salads, pasta dishes and grilled vegetables to give them a silky taste.

  1. Take it for a spin.

If you are cooking something in the oven, unless it’s really plush, it is quite common for an oven to cook food unevenly, a little browner towards the back and not quite so done at the front. What’s the solution to that problem? Whilst baking or cooking something in the oven, make sure that you open the oven at the halfway point to spin the food around, giving the whole tray a chance to cook evenly.

  1. Give it a rest.

When cooking a piece of meat, the juices and its flavors gravitate towards the outside of the meat. So, instead of beautifully seasoning up a cut of meat and then becoming disappointed by the taste, allow it to rest for 10 minutes and the juices will have the chance to disperse throughout the whole cut of meat, helping it to reach its maximum taste potential.

  1. Pasta like an Italian.

To make the best, flavorsome pasta, make sure you add enough salt to the water. Fed up of your pasta sticking together once it has cooled? Try adding a little oil to your cooking water and rinse the pasta over briefly with cold water once cooked.

Conclusion

There you have five indispensable cooking tips that will really help you out in the kitchen. Don’t forget to share them with friends and see just how the quality of your cooking will skyrocket.
