Things You Don’t Want to Forget When You’re Planning a Backyard Wedding
It may be cold (or even snowing) outside, but now is the perfect time to begin planning your backyard wedding for the spring, summer, or fall of 2020. Though it may seem a long way out the warmer seasons will be here in the blink of an eye. If you happen to be planning an outdoor or backyard wedding, now is an especially great time to get good deals on things you’ll need for the big day. Of all the things you have on your wedding checklist to remember, here are a few things you don’t want to leave out.
While you could just create “sections” in your yard or outdoor wedding venue to separate the seating area from the food and gifts, it’s a lot easier to master with party tents. Tents are convenient in that they make it easy to see the layout of the ceremony and reception. They also provide shade if your wedding happens to be on a really hot or sunny day. You can purchase tents to match your wedding day decor online and have them ready for your big day.
Chairs and Tables
Unless you plan on using mix-match chairs and tables for your backyard or outdoor wedding you’re going to need to make sure you have enough seating for your guests. After you’ve created a guest list, it is recommended that you start looking for companies to rent tables and chairs from for your ceremony and reception. When it comes to determining how many you’ll need, you can either wait until the RSVP date or make an estimate based on your guest list. It’s always best to give yourself some cushion by renting more chairs than you believe you’ll need.
Dishes and Silverware
There are some pretty fancy plastic and paper plates, disposable utensils, and cups out there these days, but if you plan on splurging a bit for your backyard or outdoor wedding, you’re going to need to invest in dishes and silverware. If you’re hiring a catering company for your wedding, they may very well come with everything you’ll need to serve your guests. On the other hand, if you plan on ordering large batches of food and having a buffet-style wedding or you simply want something other than white plates and silver utensils, then you’ll want to start looking for fine china and silverware to rent for your event.
Bare tables and chairs for your wedding and reception isn’t very attractive, nor does it flow with the theme of the day. So, after you’ve ordered the necessary number of tables and chairs you need to purchase linens as well. You’ll need round and/or rectangular linens for each of the tables and chair covers and/or ribbons for the seats. You will also need to consider purchasing other linens like napkins for the table setting or longer drapes and curtains for any areas you might want to spruce up/or coverup at your outdoor wedding.
Fans, Heaters, or Firepits
Depending on what time of year you plan on getting married you’ll need to be prepared for extreme temperatures. In the summer, for instance, your guests can get really hot if there aren’t fans blowing cool air throughout the ceremony and reception. If you’re having an evening wedding in the early Spring, you might want to purchase a few fire pits to add to the mood and to keep your guests warm in the cool night air. For those getting married in the fall, the cooler temperatures may require you to purchase an outdoor heater.
What’s a wedding reception without the space for guests to get up and get their groove on? Trying to dance on grass, however, can be a pain. This is especially true for women who tend to wear heels as they can get stuck in the mud and cause an injury. So, you want to check into renting a dance floor for your wedding reception. They come in varying styles and sizes to provide enough dancing room for your guests while still fitting in with the rest of your decor.
Outdoor and/or backyard weddings are some of the most beautiful weddings ever. There’s something about having the backdrop of nature that really just ties everything together. As you’re planning your outdoor wedding, now is the time to begin looking for great deals and vendors on the items listed above so you’re not stressing over them as time inches towards your big day.
