IBPS stands for the Institute of Banking Personnel and Selection. Every year IBPS conducts exams for the selection of eligible candidates for the post of PO as well as clerk. The exam for IBPS clear is conducted in two stages. To ensure your selection, you have to score above the cut-off in both stages. Well, the good news is that the questions are not very difficult to answer. The questions will be in English as well as the Hindi language.

The questions are asked in the Multiple Choice Questions format. So, if you have a basic understanding of the topic asked in the question, you will be able to eliminate one or two options. As you have read earlier, there are two stages in the exam. First is the preliminary stage. You will have to work on your Quantitative, English, and Reasoning abilities. You will be given 20 minutes each to answer questions of three separate sections. Thus, you will be expected to answer 10 questions in 60 minutes.

The second stage is the Mains stage. You will have to answer 190 questions in 2 hours and 40 minutes. Apart from the above-mentioned three sections, you will also be asked questions from the General Awareness area in your Mains exam. The journey is a bit long and given below are certain tips that will definitely reduce some of your hardships.

  • Start with the syllabus

The most important step is to download the syllabus and all the important notes. Keep the date of the exam in your mind always. Go through the syllabus to understand the areas in which you will be evaluated. Find out the areas that you have a strong grip on and the areas you shall spend most time and effort on.

  • PYQs or Previous Year Question Papers

Apart from the syllabus, the most important and crucial source should be the previous years’ questions. Get a basic understanding of the type of questions that are asked. Analyze the areas that frequently feature in the exam. 

  • Make a schedule.

After you have understood the syllabus and analyzed the PYQs, make a weekly and monthly schedule. Mark the days or weeks you will be spending on the three areas as well as the particular topics. Frame a daily timetable accordingly. It may take some time but you will feel ready and prepared at the starting of each day and each study session.

  • Read Newspaper

Reading the newspaper will help you in two ways. It will help you to gain and enhance your knowledge of issues of general awareness. It will also help you in the English section- the comprehension questions and the vocabulary questions.

Follow these steps and make them your habit. Nothing that has value or means important to us comes easy. So you have to wake up each morning, feel motivated and work daily on your targets.
