There are various comforts and amenities some people may wish to have in their house one day. Perhaps they’d like to install a range oven in their kitchen instead of the gas hob they have now, or maybe they’d like a more refined separate dining room than the one in the kitchen. But of course, there are some necessary investments that are non-negotiable.
Most people wish for a nice bathroom space, for example, where they can wash and clean and enjoy me-time in comfort. You may wish for a utility room to house all of your cleaning goods, your preserves, and do your laundry. But you also need somewhere separate to sleep, and as the owner of the household, that usually means having the biggest and best bedroom.
But outside of size (which isn’t always a defining factor), what is it that makes a master bedroom a master bedroom? Is it a double bed for you and your partner as opposed to the singles or bunks for your children? Perhaps. Is it just you sleeping there that defines it as the master? Maybe so.
But in this post, we hope to make some suggestions to help you move forward with that in mind:
Utility Furniture
This isn’t to say a child’s bedroom won’t have furniture in it, of course, it will, but the furniture might be a little more “grown up,” refined, and have further uses in the space. For example, a lovely Mirrored Sideboard at CFS can provide you with the storage space you need while still looking comfortable, and give your room a little more class. You might also have nice side tables put in place, a larger, perhaps even walk-in closet, and even wider renovations like an en-suite with all the furniture that could imply and require.
Family-Based Decorations
It’s nice to decorate a space like this with plants and all the trimmings that feel indulgent to you (but are totally private and comfortable anyway), but some of the best reflect your life and family. This makes the space feel more like an extension of who you are and what matters to you. For example, wonderful framed photos of funny moments, a colorful throw, or custom artwork that your child has done can be nice. After all, the master bedroom should be a space that connects with your family and makes you feel grounded and at peace, the place that reminds you of why you wake up every day and deal with a household budget, going to work in the cold, or waking up to attend to an upset child.
Sidetable Comforts
Think about making your master bedroom a sanctuary, and on either side you can have side table comforts that are most appropriate for each partner. You may add items that bring comfort or a sense of calm, like a soft candle, your favorite book, or a small plant. A reading light that you can angle at night can be good for you, or a charging station for your e-reader will work. You might have a watch storage case or a jewelry holder. This way, the space is much more personal and yours to own.
With this advice, you’re sure to make that master bedroom your master bedroom.
