Which Instrument Is Next…

When my stepsons were young I wanted to get them into an instrument I thought they would enjoy.  We chose guitar and I attended guitar lessons with them.  I LOVED the quality time I had with the boys all those years.  Bob eventually stopped playing guitar and Bill very quickly surpassed any skills that I had and left me in the dust.  To this day he loves playing guitar and singing and although not famous – does perform as part of his career choice.  I am happy for him – he is following his dream.

Then we adopted our first daughter – My husband, Coralyn and I all took piano lessons.  Piano is so much easier than guitar so at that point I dropped guitar – sadly – to focus on piano.  After several years of that we had to leave that instructor – their dog bit our daughter in the face.  Continuing lessons was not an option!  Plus by then Coralyn had lost all interest in piano and Anthony came along…

At one point I dabbled in digital drums, harmonica and the organ.  We still have many guitars (acoustic and electric, bass etc..), amps, digital drums, keyboards, piano, triangles, tambourines, ukuleles and more…

But now, my youngest two children are 11 and 15 and I find myself desperately wanting to resume guitar and piano lessons.  So this weekend I will clean off that piano, dig out those keyboards and pull out the guitars.  I will start teaching my kids the basics and start shopping for musicians friend guitars for the kids.
