Jinja Jewelry – Review and Giveaway

Jinja Handmade Jewelry from Bali

Jinja is a company that designs and manufactures beautiful handmade jewelry.  Their first and most distinctive jewelry are use beads made out of dyed bamboo coral.   Beads for Jinja’s handmade coral jewelry are handcrafted over a period of several weeks and then dried in the sun for up to two weeks.  In addition to their coral jewelry, Jinja has added stones such as  Amethyst, Garnet, Peridot, Blue Topaz and Mother of Pearl to their collection.

Their collections contain both coordinating sets of jewelry and single pieces.  I received a pendant and a bracelet to review.  The pendant is a beautiful black piece wrapped in sterling silver.  The bracelet wraps around your wrist and has a variety of beads and stones including sterling silver and jade. I brought both pieces in to work to see what the response was. And it was an overwhelming…”where did you get that?”

The bracelet is beautiful but light.  So many of the sterling silver and stones pieces manufactured today are heavy or have dangling pieces that hit the desk every time I try to type a letter.  This one fit perfectly.  It was snug around my wrist (big as my wrist is), but it didn’t feel tight.  It looked good on my wrist but when I had a few other people at work (with thinner wrists) try it on, it was stunning.  Both of the people trying it on wanted to keep it!

It is also worth noting that Jinja’s motto is “People Helping People”.  The business helps to support Balinese families where the coral is created.  Jinja also sponsors a preschool in South Africa.  So as well as being beautiful, your purchase of the jewelry will help to support craftsman in Africa.

“With every Jinja sale, the company provides jobs for the Balinese people and education for a Balinese boy named Putu (with hopes of giving back to more children).  Jinja’s inspiration to create unique, handmade jewelry comes from a desire to provide a better future to the beautiful and dedicated Balinese people. Through Jinja, owner’s Don and Elaine Helmig have been able to sponsor a little boy who now attends a wonderful school in Bali which is a luxury not available to everyone. Jinja’s motto is “People Helping People.”  Jinja has proudly been the sole financial and educational support for young Putu. He is the son of Nyoman, one of the original Jinja Family members, and through Jinja receives an exemplary private education.”
