Salad In A Jar – Gorgeous and Healthy
I love salads but unfortunately don’t eat them as much as I’d like because it takes so much time to put a salad together the way I like it. Tonight I finally had a chance and this is a method that works great.
Plan your salad out and start putting it together. I made four jars at one time – now I don’t need to worry about not having enough time for the next four days. I don’t include salad dressing in mine because I have plenty at my office where I will be eating it. I also didn’t include tomatoes or cucumbers in this batch. When I do – those need to go on the bottom.
Begin your layering with the wet veggies/ingredients such as tomatoes and cucumbers. If I had wet ingredients I would do a layer of nuts to create a barrier between them and the lettuce.
Layer in your lettuce/greens. This is a Spring Mix/Spinach Mix.
The next layer are the toppings. Today I used celery, red peppers, yellow peppers, orange peppers, (totally forgot to pick up some green peppers), chickpeas, corn, and red onions.
The top layer would be croutons and other dry ingredients if you have them.
Canning jars are the ultimate storage option. They preserve ingredients very well and are quite versatile.
That is pretty and I like salad too. I love experimenting putting different things in it.
This is awesome! There are so many times during the day that I want a nice salad, but very rarely ever have enough stuff to make a good one! I’m gonna have to go get all the stuff, and make me some! My daughter is pretty impatient when it comes time for her lunch so if I could just go grab this out of the fridge, she would love it!
