Medical Services From The Comfort of Your Couch With Amwell #momsloveamwell

I participated in the Amwell blog program as a member of One2One Network. I received compensation but all opinions are my own.

I am a huge supporter of Tele-Health services.  I have used them throughout the last year for one thing or another.  Now I have just learned about Amwell and I believe I am totally converting to their services.

When it comes to being sick I totally love these services for so many reasons – especially when it comes to my kids.  No one likes sitting in a doctors office or their waiting room when they are sick.  Often getting out of bed is just too much of a task to even get there.  Of course once you are there, everyone is exposed to all the germs everyone else is bringing in too.  And if you aren’t trying to see your doctor for an illness – you will be the following week for sure.

Plus – there is the commute time to the doctor and home.  I learned in the last year that reaching out to tele-health services at those times is so much better.  We can reach a doctor right from our bed and get the help we need.  Yes, they can still call in prescriptions and yes they can still provide documentation for medical notes if you need it.

Amwell is even better!  Since I have experience with other services I will focus on why I like Amwell so much better.  First, as soon as you are on their home page you see a list of doctors that are online or offline.  This is very helpful so you can followup with professionals that you have previously interacted with.  And not that I have run across this but theoretically you could also avoid professionals that you may not have been as comfortable with.

They have medical services, psychological services – and my favorite – nutritionists!

Tonight I had the opportunity to call in to a nutritionist and I am so glad I did.  My first step was to create an account and provide some basic information.  In some cases your insurance may also contribute to the cost of the visit – which is not the case with all tele-health services.  In my case, our insurance paid for all but $10 of the nutritionist.  This is very exciting for me because I have wanted to see a nutritionist for some time but can never fit it in between everyone else’s schedule.  With Amwell, I can just use my iPad for appointments while the kids are at horseback riding.  You can’t get much more convenient than that.  So now that I have had my initial visit I am confident that I will be able to develop a solid plan to follow and followup with the nutritionist.  This is truly exciting.  The fact that the insurance covers a portion of the visit is HUGE for me.  It leaves me with no excuse not to continue.  Creating an account only takes a few minutes.  You can access Amwell on your desktop, laptop, iPad, iPhone – as long as you have a camera and a speaker.

Doctor visits are 10-15 minutes, therapist (psychologist) are 45 minutes while dietician (nutritionist) are 30 minutes.  I was honestly shocked at the time and attention I received.
