We went to Palace Playland today – we camp a mile away so we simply need to hop onto the shuttle and get ourselves there.  When done, we hop back on the shuttle.  Easy as can be.  However, we often drive to Old Orchard Beach and parking is available in certain spots – it is pretty convenient either way.

It was a perfect weather day and we had some of our friends with us.  I was nervous about going to the park on such a beautiful Saturday – it seemed like everyone in the world was on the beach.  However, the amusement park was not overwhelmingly busy.  The children did not need to wait long for any ride.  As long as the kids stay within the amusement park, they really can’t get lost.  The only danger is a side, dead end street that runs through the park in one spot but even that is less dangerous than some of the roads in the campground.

There are rides for all ages!  Anything from Kiddie rides to thrill seeking rides and even a water ride (Cascade Falls).

Rides are either 2, 3 or 4 tickets.

Rides that spin, go upside down, forwards, backwards and more – even a roller coaster.  There are games galore – even claw machines, a full huge arcade, typical amusement park games and more.

The best value is by far the seasonal pass if you plan on going more than once.  Palace Playland is very expensive.  However, that also has its benefits.  Since it is free to enter – I only need to purchase passes or tickets for the kids rather than for every single person in the party – regardless of whether or not they plan to ride.  Because the tickets are expensive that helps keep the crowds in the park pretty manageable.  For us, a huge benefit is we simply hop on the shuttle and stay as little or as long as we want – then head back.

You can sign up for their newsletter to be notified of deals etc… I signed up for sure – a season pass patron let me know that there are sometimes upcoming season pass deals before Christmas for the next season.  I will definitely be watching.  We don’t have time to get bored at the campground much but certainly this would minimize any chance of that.  You can also sign up for their newsletter HERE.

And we started and ended our day on the beach!  Old Orchard Beach is awesome with all the shops, places to eat, the pier, events etc…
