Ultra Downy Ball
I have no idea how people can use traditional fabric softener – who has time to stand by a washing machine, waiting for the rinse cycle before adding softener. I have never ever been able to do that. First of all – I can’t imagine being able to but with special needs kids – you get pulled in a million different directions and none are towards the washing machine at just the right time.
And I do use dryer sheets when I need to but it just isn’t the same as fabric softener. The scent isn’t as nice and the clothing is not as soft. I do have an self dispensing mechanism in our washer but I have had maintenance persons work on it several times because it gets clogged. Eventually we got tired of paying to have that cleaned out.
So now we use the Ultra Downy Ball – it easily softens our clothes in 3 simple steps:
1. Fill the Down Ball up to the appropriate line for your wash load size
2. Pull the ring tightly to close the ball
3. Toss the ball on top of your clothes before starting the wash cycle
From then on you just wait for you clothing to experience the magic! The ball releases the fabric softener automatically – no more standing by the washing machine waiting for the rinse cycle. The spinning motion of the rinse cycle opens the Downy Ball and releases the fabric softener.
The Downy Ball can be used in traditional washers. It can be used in some HE machines, but may not work in all front loaders and other HE machines because the water does not fill up high enough to open the ball and release the softener. Consult your machine’s owner’s manual for information regarding use of the Downy Ball.
The Downy Ball, originally called the Downy Dispenser, first came out in January of 1960. The ball is made of clouded plastic with a metal weight and two metal side weights. It has been 55 years since The Downy Ball debuted and it is still sold in stores today and found in laundry rooms across the country. For best use of the Downy Ball, fill only to the appropriate line for the wash load size and ensure the washing machine is not overloaded with clothing.
The Downy Ball is sold at Target, Walmart, Amazon.com and many other grocery, drug and mass retailers. The Downy Ball is available for $2.29. For more information please visit: Downy.com.
