Enjoying a Brisk Fall Evening With Caramel Apple Dump Cake
Don’t you just love Autumn?! There is nothing better than nice warm apple desserts on a brisk evening. But who has time to make an apple pie or an apple cake after work? I know I don’t.
But have no fear – this “cake” only calls for three ingredients and it is totally awesome. Be warned though – it is addicting and incredibly sweet.
All you need is a box of cake mix – I used Pillsbury Classic White Cake Mix.
A can of pie filling – any pie filling will work but my kids love Apples and for an added twist I used Apple Caramel Pie Filling.
And a stick of butter…
Open the box of cake mix and spread along the bottom of a pan. Slice the butter up into thin squares and lay over the cake mix in the pan. Open the can of pie filling and spread over the butter. That is it – takes about 5 minutes to prep. Then you can go help your children with homework, take care of the dogs, do some dishes, throw a load of laundry in and catch up on the news. 45 minutes later you will have a fully ready “dump cake”.
Serve while warm with either a side of ice cream or a dollop of ice cream on top. Just scoop it out of the pan and enjoy. Be careful that pie filling is hot!
