Modarri Ultimate Toy Cars – Surf and Turf Collection

Introduction

Modarri Ultimate Toy Cars are designed and manufactured by a small toy company in Santa Cruz, California. The company was started by a trio of gentlemen who have a combined 70 years of toy design, engineering and manufacturing experience.

They decided that the toy industry needed a whole new type of car and they set out to make one. The result was the all new Modarri Ultimate Toy Cars. The cars each feature a unique steering linkage and soft, springy suspension. The cars are capable of being steered by a single finger.

Products

The engineers at Modarri designed each car to be very different than most of the toy cars on market today. Many toy cars feature fixed wheels and no suspension which really limits the enjoyment for kids. All of the models of the Modarri cars feature realistic turning mechanisms and soft, springy and suspensions. This makes it possible for the car to be maneuvered around tight turns, including figure-8’s with ease.

The each of the cars are designed with parts that are fully interchangeable. So if you buy any two of the cars on the site, you can swap the parts around and create your own unique looking car. You can also purchase any of the accessory packs on the website. These packs include custom body parts and wheels.

The cars are divided into one of three separate categories; Dirt, Street and Track.

Dirt – This category is made up of two unique cars (X1 Camo, X1 Dirt Car), custom body pack and wheel pack.

Street – This category is made up of three unique cars (S1 Beach Cruzer, S1 DIY Car and S1 Street Car), custom chrome body pack and wheel pack.

Track – This category is made up of a single car T-1 Track Car, the La Mans T1 Track Body pack and wheel pack.

For this review we will focus specifically on one collection of the Modarri Ultimate Toy Cars, called the Surf and Turf Collection.

Surf and Turf Collection

Modarri markets their cars in several different ways on their website. Each of the cars are listed individually within a category; Dirt, Street and Track. They also list them in sets of three, but one other way they market them is in special sets. One of those sets is called the Surf and Turf Collection. This collection consists of the S1 Beach Cruzer and the X-1 Camo.

S1 Beach Cruzer – The S1 Beach Cruzer toy car is uniquely designed to represent the free spirit of the coastal cruising in southern California. It comes from the factory with the purple accent colors and unique floral design. However, like all of the other models of the Modarri cars, there are accessories packs that can be used to custom it anyway you wish. The street category does include the custom S1 Chrome Body Pack and wheel pack.

The S1 Beach Cruzer pack comes with all of the parts for the basic set including the special tool needed to assemble to car and also for making any changes to customize the car. The car comes partially assembled and require your child to read and follow a set of instructions in order to be able to put it together.

X-1 Camo – The X-1 Camo toy car is perfectly designed for any boy who loves off-road vehicles. The X-1 Camo features cool looking camouflage paint and accent colored roll cage. The X-1 Camo set can be accessorized using the X-1 Fire Body Pack as well as the custom wheels pack.

Like the S1 Beach Cruzer, the X-1 Camo pack comes with all the pieces to build the basic set including the tool necessary to tighten all the screws. The package includes the step-by-step instructions that your child will need to follow in order to put it together before he can play with it.

I was looking for something new to buy for my son as a birthday present. He was just about to turn 10 years old and he is really into cars. So, I thought it would be a good idea to look for a new toy car that was very different from any other car he has had. He has had numerous diecast cars and radio controlled cars over the years, but none of them really seem to keep his attention.

I showed my son the website so he would be able to pick out one of the cars he wanted to play with. He found one car that he really liked and then he asked me if I would be able to get one for his sister so they could play together. They often spend a lot of time playing together and I sure. It actually turned great that the S1 Beach Cruzer is perfect for my daughter since it features a purple body color.

After my kids decided which cars they wanted I contacted the company to see if they offer any special packages of multiple cars other than the three pack that is advertised on their website. They told me that they have a special collection they call Surf and Turf and it consists of the two cars my kids selected the S1 Beach Cruzer and the X-1 Camo.

I immediately placed an order for the Surf and Turf Collection from Modarri and it arrived on time. After it arrived in the mail, we all sat down at the kitchen table and opened up the packages. After putting them both together they were ready to play with them. The first thing they noticed that they were highly maneuverable and springs were soft. Over the next several months they spent many hours together playing with their cars. They also talked me into ordering a couple of the accessory packs to customize their cars.
