I love souvenirs but with all the traveling we do I often find that they end up in the trash or something because in the end they just are not practical or useful. This New York souvenir is perfect because everyone can definitely use decent ceramic cups. The 3 oz cup is the Espresso version and the 10 oz cup is the coffee version.
The “Anthora” cup, designed in 1963, features Greek motifs and two shields on which are written “WE ARE HAPPY TO SERVE YOU”. Hundred of thousands of these cups feed the caffeine addictions of New Yorkers every year. The sheer number of them coupled with their forty-year history has given the cup icon status along with yellow taxis and the Statue of Liberty.
These cups are really cute – they are a nice thick ceramic and quite heavy duty. My son has just started drinking coffee so he uses the larger one. The smaller one is designed for Espresso – and I will be giving it as a gift to a loved one who drinks Espresso. She will be so impressed with the quality and what it stands for.
