So heading into the holidays I had the best of plans… How hard should it be to stay on plan over Thanksgiving? I can have as much meat and vegetables as I want. Well it proved to be harder than I anticipated. That’s the bad news – but there is good news.
First my stepsons decided to visit for the holiday so not only was it Thanksgiving but it was also 5 days of being on the go nonstop – trying to maximize every minute of our time together. They are 28 and 29 and we see each other a couple times of year but it is never enough. They live in Florida and we live in Connecticut.

We managed to find time to have a full family photo session – not just our full family but three generations of full family!

Over the course of 5 days we had several holiday get togethers – with lots of food. BUT… yes there is a but… I could easily have had anything and everything and just skipped watching what I eat for five days. Although I did make some choices I should not have while following this program – I stayed away from so many things that have always been part of my holiday festivities. For example – my husband always makes cream cheese pies – several of them. My daughter and I love them. My husband did buy everything to make them but I asked that he NOT make them this year. I said we could make them for people at work after the holidays but it just wasn’t something I wanted to be tempted with day after day.
I did still focus on protein and vegetables and made an occasional shift from the plan but seriously nothing that I really really regret. And although I am not weighing myself, I can say I feel really good about the way I feel as well as what I consider to be a successful, healthful holiday. YAY!
