5 Things To Keep In Mind After Getting Yourself A Hair Transplant

If you have recently had a hair transplant, then the recovery period is critical to ensure that your scalp is healed properly and that the hair that has been transplanted is not damaged. You must follow all the instructions given by the surgeon during this period. In addition, we list out five things you must know about proper hair transplant care.

No Washing

You must not wash your hair at least for the first 48 hours after surgery. Generally, the surgeon will instruct you on the same. But even if there are no such instructions, it is highly recommended that you adhere to this. And once the 48 hours have passed, you can consider washing the hair with warm water.

Pressure The Grafts

When you do wash the hair, you might see slight bleeding from the region. If this happens, do not panic. Just take a damp cloth and slightly put pressure on the area for about 5 minutes. This reduces the risk of swelling and also ensures that any blood coming out is absorbed. Avoid dabbing the region since this can lead to scabs. And if you see any scabs, then refrain from picking at them. But keep in mind that light scabbing is normal after the procedure and is nothing to be concerned about.

Keep The Scalp Clean

Ensure that you keep the scalp area clean while in recovery. If you do not take proper care of the scalp, then it will become unclean due to the dirt, pollutants, and microbes you are exposed to. And eventually, this can lead to infection in the region. Plus, you may also experience a little numbness in the scalp region. The feeling will go away as your recovery progresses.

No Alcohol

If you have a habit of consuming alcohol, then it is recommended that you refrain from drinking it during the recovery period. This is because alcohol affects the blood supply to the area around the head. And considering that you just had a surgery in the region, you should easily understand why refraining from alcohol is necessary.

Raise Your Head While Sleeping

You should keep the head raised while sleeping, at least for the initial few days post the surgery. This will help you avoid potential swelling in the scalp region. So, if you usually rest your head on a single pillow while sleeping, stack two or three pillows and use them to rest your head after the surgery.

So, follow the above tips and you should be able to easily get through the recovery period without any issues. And if you are someone who is thinking about getting a hair transplant surgery, but have lingering doubts as to how exactly it can help you improve the way you look, contact a good clinic like the Seager Hair Transplant Centre.
