Upgrading Our Summer, We Work Very Hard – But There Is Also Time To Play Hard

We spend our days at the barn – the days are very long.  We start with work and school, then the barn (sometimes we start at the barn!).  Our days start at 5:30am and sometimes we don’t get home until 8 or 9pm especially during the summer months when daylight is available longer.

Work involves riding and walking horses, feeding, setting up grain, moving bales around, cleaning stalls, filling water buckets and water troughs, washing horses, brushing them, bringing them into their stalls to eat, putting them back out after eating, etc… This is definitely not an exhaustive list – all you need to do is pick a direction and there will definitely be something to do.  We only own three horses but the barn has about 60 horses (owned by the barn owners and boarders) as well as a cow, goats, ponies, dogs, cats and so much more.

Now, the warmer months are here and we spend so much more time not only at the barn with our animals but also with all our friends.  So much fun and fresh air. Everyone sleeps well – total cure for insomnia. Weekends can easily be a full twelve hours at the barn in high heat with lots of work and fun. Children and adults alike help with sick and aging animals, births, caring for babies, and sadly at times even the loss of a beloved pet.

These days need snacks and hydration – all the time.  We turn to some of our favorites – Bud Light Lemon Tea, Canada Dry Ginger Ale and Lemonade, Canada Dry Ginger Ale and Orangeade, Blue Diamond Almond Nut-Thins, Sabra Roasted Red Pepper Hummus!  They even have SeaPak Budweiser Beer-Battered Shrimp for when we boot up the grill! As always we turn to our local supercenter for our snacking and beverage needs.
