Yay – the holidays are coming. I seriously cannot believe how much this year’s season has left me in awe at just how quickly time passes. I really feel like the summer just ended and we just packed up the camper for the season. In reality though that was 6 weeks ago… Every year I say I will be more and more ready and every year I seem less and less ready… I’ll use the kids, dogs and horses as my excuse…
Holiday celebrations are definitely not just for the humans in our house – all animals also get to join in on the celebrations. Here is one of our gorgeous dogs…
This girl LOVES to hang out on the deck with us. Sure she loves being outside but the deck is two and three stories up and I am pretty sure she lives for the elevated people watching.
We always spend alot of time with our dog but it seems around the holidays we make special time to do more with her. There is alot of chaos with holiday concerts, shopping, plays, parties and more. We do all we can to make sure she doesn’t suffer from the loss of some of her time – the time we spend with her is devoted to her.
Hanging out in fields, people watching on the deck, rides in cars and just spending more time in bed together with the best snuggles ever.
We tend to make alot of our gifts for the holidays – it makes for great bonding time with the kids and I and the end results are truly appreciated. This year we are also making a special treat jar for Xena Lee.
For us we tend to use recycled items in our crafts as much as possible. If I don’t have something to recycle on hand, then we make a trip to the local thrift store and see what kind of treasures we can find. For this project we wanted a treat jar that would keep Xena’s BLUE Santa Snacks® nice and fresh. We did not have anything on hand at home but our local thrift store had just what we wanted and just the right size – a stainless steel canister – air tight!
Then we headed to a local department store for some holiday ways to decorate our snack jar. This navy blue (elasticized) puppy holiday bell skirt was just perfect! It fits around the canister just right and we can remove it and re-decorate the snack jar for Easter later!
We simply slip the skirt up onto the canister.
Then we found a little boy and girl with their dog – holiday village characters, as well as a couple signs. In keeping with the theme that we want to decorate this for the next set of holidays also, we used double sided tape to hold the characters on. The specific tape we used is the tape that holds pop sockets on your phone. Quite sticky but also able to be removed without residue.
All the pieces, ready to assemble…
Put it all together and what have you got? Not only a great dog treat/snack container but it can easily double as an attractive centerpiece for your holiday themed table…
We filled the snack jar with BLUE Santa Snacks and our dog is anxiously waiting to dive in!
Isn’t it just so pretty full of the Santa Snacks! She will be begging for these non-stop – but she is a good girl, she would never try to sneak some without us.
BLUE Santa Snacks are crunchy holiday dog biscuits made with oatmeal and cinnamon. Other ingredients include: Barley, pumpkin, flaxseed and carrots. Xena Lee loves her Kringle’s Cookies that are made with high quality, natural ingredients with no artificial preservatives, colors or flavors.
