We all grew up with Rice Krispie Treats – I make them alot for our kids. Far better than the store bought, pre-made treats with a great many preservatives. But sometimes we like to change it up.
Sometimes we make it with Fruity Pebbles, Cheerios, Fruit Loops etc… You can also make them with Cocoa Pebbles but we never do. Fruity Pebbles are definitely our favorite. This particular batch I even threw a surprise of white chocolate chips in it. Not many – just enough for a surprise here and there.
The recipe is so easy – 3 tablespoons of butter, a 10 ounce bag of marshmallows and 6 cups of Fruity Pebbles.
Simply melt the butter in a pot and then add in the marshmallows. On low/medium heat stir the marshmallows until they are melted – don’t walk away for too long (if you do) because the marshmallows can overcook very quickly. Once they are melted – remove from heat and add in the 6 cups of Fruity Pebbles (and any surprises). Mix well then spread into a rectangle cake pan and press down. Once cooled – cut and serve.
Don’t forget to eat a spoonful while it is warm for all your hard work – that is by far the best of the entire batch!
Enjoy
