7 Best Family Kayaking Destinations of the World

If your children are school-age or older; a kayaking journey may be a good way to bond as a family this summer. Kayaking could be a nice alternative for a family vacation like day trip or longer because it involves teamwork, exercise, and also the chance to relish some exciting scenery. If you like the water but want a little more from your holiday, think about a trip with a kayaking component as part of an outstanding experience. Here are seven family vacation destinations where you’ll be able to immerse yourself in the culture and get a bit of paddle time.

Costa Rica

When you think of a family kayaking trip, Costa Rica is probably the first place that comes to mind. In Costa Rica you have the chance to enjoy other multisport adventures such as zip lining, snorkeling, and whitewater rafting. Kayaking in a Costa Rican tidal estuary amid the mangrove trees is beautiful and peaceful. You’re likely to spot egrets, anteaters and basiliscus lizards. And you might even gain an extra passenger on your kayak; one of the many howler monkeys living in the surrounding trees.

Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia

Paddling around the peaceful waters of Halong Bay is dreamlike. The gigantic limestone islands jut out of the emerald waters in such a way, you wonder if they are real. While taking in this scenery is breathtaking, the way you got here is pretty cool, too.  Imagine being aboard a touring kayak gliding across the bay as you get a glance of the natural haven.

Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast

Croatia is another great family kayaking destinations of the world. Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast is famous kayaking spot where you can paddle through calm waters from the coast to Lokrum Island. While walking in the shoreline with your family, you will see many caves and beautiful rock beaches. And don’t forget to look down the water; here water is clear to a depth of 30 feet or more perfect for an afternoon swim. Once you step on land, this uninhabited island is home to a nature reserve, botanical gardens, and a fortress. As you make your way to the island’s private lake, you’re likely to meet with a peacock who will happily show off for you.

Provence

The Pont-du-Gard is as much a technical masterpiece as it is a beautiful marker of Roman history and architecture. Built more than 2,000 years ago, the Roman watercourse is more than 900 feet long and nearly 165 feet high. Despite those numbers, it’s hard to imagine the flagrancy of it until you are paddling through its archways on the Gardon River. Enjoy a picnic on the banks and spend the afternoon paddling and exploring this lovely destination in southern France with your family.

Milford Sound, New Zealand

If you want to experience New Zealand’s untainted wild, then head to Milford Sound with your NZ Visas. Milford Sound of New Zealand is famous for its most diverse locations, and the atmosphere is warmer than arctic destinations. Whatever you want in a kayaking destination, Milford Sound has it. If you love simple paddling, then North Island will be the right choice. Kayakers who love more adventure and extreme water choose Fiordland. While kayaking, the natural beauty of Milford Sound will amuse you. The mountains, waterfalls, clear blue water, fishes beneath you, dolphins swimming beside you, everything will increase your kayaking experience to a different new level.

The Galápagos Islands

Another all-time favorite on the list of family kayaking trip destinations is the Galápagos Islands. Visit the northern coast of San Cristobel Island for calm-water kayaking. The most movement you’ll encounter here is from the baby sea lions playing and swimming alongside your kayak. Take a break from paddling to snorkel with prehistoric-looking marine iguanas. You’ll spot giant mantas, sea turtles and, of course, loads of fish. But the main attraction of this kayaking destination is the baby sea lions that will swim up, give you a kiss and then they’re off again.

The Delaware River

With a Delaware Water Gap map, you with your family can enjoy this stunning area of the Appalachian Mountains, where the Delaware River cuts through the range and forms a perfect leisure ground for kayak lovers. Ideal for novices or people newer to paddling, the Delaware River offers a choice between smoother trips, or more rapid flowing areas, with more white water and challenges for kayakers. More experienced kayakers will also enjoy the steep banks and crystal clear waters, with a quick stream at times, being fed by many reservoirs along the way.
